Ice Halva is a specialty of Mumbai. Halva refers to dense, sweet confections and is served across the world. The main ingredients in halva are ghee, flour and sugar. Ice Halva is grain flour-based (typically semolina) and is slightly gelatinous. It is available as square-shaped sheets in a variety of flavors such as saffron (kesar), figs (anjeer), pineapple, etc. It is generously garnished with thinly slivered dry fruits such as almonds, cashews, raisins and pistachios.
Ice Halva can be kept at room temperature for several days. For longer storage, it is advisable to keep it refrigerated.
